Practice Considerations

Use water spray to control RCS dust when mechanically moving rocks and soil, combined with a positive-pressure operator cab to isolate the machine operator from the dusty environment. Ensure slurry is contained and disposed of so as not to dry and again become airborne. Workers should consider the use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) in the event water supply is interrupted. The work area must be restricted to required personnel only, and those in the work area must be trained to work safely within hazardous RCS dust environments.
