Engineering Controls

Engineering controls are engineered methods that are built into the design of equipment, process, or plant to minimize a hazardous exposure. Engineering controls are a very reliable way to control hazardous exposures as long as the controls are designed, used and maintained properly. The HSRC requires that where practicable, controls are instituted at the source of exposure (1.9.1(2). Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia.)
