Work Activities & Definitions
Work activities in the Silica Control ToolTM are aligned with the following definitions. If your work activity does not align with the definition that has been used, the tool will not produce an accurate exposure profile for your task. If your work task is not represented by these definitions, please click here.

| Crushing and Screening Plant - Control room operation | Inside a cab/booth for 80% or more of the time. |
| Crushing and Screening Plant - Groundsperson | Outside performing checks, general clean-up, and maintenance for 80% or more of the time. Includes water truck operation. |
| Heavy equipment operation (haul trucks, excavators, loader, dozers, graders, skid-steer) | Inside a cab/booth for 80% or more of the time. Vehicles with just ROPS and FOPS are considered open cabs. |
| Quality Control Lab and Sample Collection | Collecting samples outside and bringing them to the lab to wash, dry, sieve, weigh, and enter data into computer. |
| Scale Operation | Inside, operating scale house at a window. |
| COMING SOON Welding / Fabrication | Out in the field or shop welding of liners, patches, truss’ bents, hoppers, etc. |
